"Thank You"

I don’t see much of smiling faces around me when I am in any public space of any cities I have visited till now. People look so serious all around. I don’t know if they are not satisfied with what they have achieved. Or maybe the life’s tough experiences have forced them to forget how to smile. People seem to be so hostile to each other. Then came the famous “Jaadoo ki Jhappi”, which was a bit exaggerated. But I liked the idea. I just thought of trying it.

No. I didn’t give hugs and all that. But I thought I would mention a “Thank You” with a smile to anyone who does some or the other help for me. The good thing is that everyone understands what it means. I didn’t know how people will respond though. But, surprisingly the results were so positive. To the bus conductor, to the waiter, to the person at ticket counter. Whoever. They all replied with a warm smile. Some car drivers on roads, when they give me some space to squeeze through in traffic signals, sometimes a “thumb up” will elicit the same response or a smile.

Yeah, it’s not a sophisticated case study. I know.  My conclusion is that people need some recognition, whatever small they are.  They don’t expect any fortune from the people around. But just a realization would suffice; that they are considered and recognized for the seemingly insignificant duties they perform every other day, which we blissfully never mind.
