I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.

Tag is one of the easy (still it’s very few in number!) reasons to write a post. So this tag is about quotes, “An offer which is hard to resist ;)”; thank you for the same. :)

I always find quotes as just plain statements, but only that they are expressed in a ‘crispy’ language that catches everyone’s attention. But I like quotes.

Now coming to the association between me and quotes, in my childhood, I used to hear some ‘quotes’ from elders, teachers etc. They used to go like, “Exams are best ways to express the anger against teachers. (Seeing my answer paper, about my handwriting, in front of the whole class!)”. The funny thing is that everyone was able to read what I write without any fail (even ‘z’!), but since these comments almost became favourite ‘sayings’ for them in almost every grade, for me, these were ‘the quotes’. And why they felt it so bad; it still remains a mystery. And I don’t care. From other elders, the main one was the pre-primary version of the Statutory Warning “Smoking is injurious to health” and that would go like “Chocolates are injurious to your teeth”, which almost enjoyed the cult following among the elder people. And because of these day-to-day quotes, I had no time for some serious ones.

Now, coming to the tag, people tend to quote famous quotes more often in this age of e-mails. Sometimes the official mails have to be searched to find out what was the message. Even funny forwards carry them. But still quotes are likeable. No doubt. So I’ll start with my list.

First of all thanks to Google for giving links to the exact form and phrasing of the quotes and also the people who made these quotes!! *Huge round of applause*

1. Change is inevitable. Change is constant

-Benjamin Disraeli

For a simple reason that I get bored easily with anything and everything. Even the food. Even the roads in which I travel. I want to be in a life where I can live different, everyday (that’s a bit too much I agree!). But in most of the cases, the problem is that no escape from the monotony. :(

But in a better sense, if you are hated, do something to be loved. If you hate, try to love. If you have short temper, try to be handle 'it' in a different way.

I feel that the scope is vast.

2. There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.

- Peter Drucker

Everywhere I go, whatever I encounter, whoever I meet, perfect examples are always assured. But that's the world order. ;)

3. Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

- Lord Acton, (Additional Info: In Letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton, 1887)

Since I like politics, this one seems to be a natural choice. And this quote is perfect. No doubt!

4. Thank God! I’m an atheist!

- Luis Bunuel

Naughty? Mischievous? Or serious? I just love it.

5. For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.

-R L Stevenson

Explains life. I love especially the latter part.

It was fun writing this down although a lot of googling was needed. And the end result doesn’t seem to be bad although “good” does not seem to be the right word! And I can’t find anyone to tag. So if you are reading this and didn't get tagged by anyone, consider that I have tagged you. ;)

I hope you may have thought (even if you didn’t!) about the header of this post. That’s another quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. But I like quotes. :)

Have a nice weekend!!

I think quotes are astute observations delivered in crisp language!

"There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all" About 98% of Managers fall in this category. In fact the line separating good managers and efficient but useless managers is so thin that it needs to be defined to separate the wheat from the chaff. The Lord Acton quote reminds me of school! :) Great compilation!
